KNOW YOUR ENEMY: SATIN’S ORIGIN STORY

Let’s be real: most of us either obsess over the devil… or never think about him at all.
We either say “the enemy is attacking me” when we spill our coffee…
…or we live like he doesn’t exist at all.

Neither approach helps.

The truth is: You do have an enemy. But he’s not as powerful as you think.
He’s not all-knowing. He’s not everywhere. And he’s already lost.

The Origin Story You Didn’t Know You Needed

Long before the garden… before Adam and Eve… there was Lucifer.

Created to worship. Covered in beauty. Walking among God’s fiery stones.

But something shifted.

Pride crept in. Worship that was meant to flow through him… he wanted for himself.
And in that moment, heaven didn’t hesitate.

Jesus said, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” (Luke 10:18)

Lightning. That’s how fast pride gets dealt with in God’s presence.

The Real Problem? Our Perspective.

Some of us are giving Satan too much real estate in our minds.
We picture him as this equal opposite of God—like the dark side of the Force. But God has no rival. No one comes close.

Satan is a created being. He has limitations. And when you know that, it puts your fear in check.

You don’t need to live looking over your shoulder. But you do need to stay alert.
Because he’s not just out to spook you—he wants to destroy everything God wants to build in you.

And his #1 weapon? Deception.

He lies. He manipulates. He counterfeits what God creates.

So What Do We Do With All This?

James 4:7 gives us the strategy in two simple steps:

SUBMIT TO GOD. RESIST THE DEVIL.
That’s it.

The strength isn’t in your hustle... it’s in your surrender.

When your life is aligned with Jesus, you’re not fighting for victory… you’re fighting from it.

So yes, there’s an enemy.

But he’s been exposed.

He’s been cast down.

And because of the cross… he’s been crushed.
