Don’t Miss Your Moment: What the Good Samaritan Can Still Teach Us

We’ve all had them—those split-second decisions. The moment when your gut says “Do something,” but your schedule says “Not now.”

Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan to someone looking for a loophole. A lawyer wanted to know who qualified as a neighbor, but Jesus flipped the script: “Be the neighbor.” The story isn’t about who’s worthy of love—it’s about whether we’re willing to love when it costs us something.

The Samaritan had no obligation to help. He wasn’t the “right” guy by cultural standards. But when he saw the broken man, he didn’t walk away. He stepped in.

That’s our call. Not to be perfect. But to be present. To make space in our lives for interruptions that are really invitations from God.

You don’t need all the answers. You don’t need a title. You just need a heart that says, “I’m available.” That’s how we move from information to transformation. That’s how we stop squandering opportunities—and start living stories worth telling.
